FLORENIA GROWS: Neighboring territory and six new citizens join the Kingdom

by The Journal

Lexington – The King yesterday evening granted royal assent to an act of parliament annexing the property north of Afula as a dominion and admitting its six residents as citizens, adding to Florenia’s integral territory in the Floren Pond basin for the first time. The Kingdom’s newest citizens acquired the territory of the new dominion last year and have enthusiastically embraced life in greater Florenia.

Nathan introduced the New Dominion Act in parliament’s first sitting on 7 January, and it was officially adopted following a brief discussion two days later. Among other stipulations, the act makes provision for the new citizens to select the dominion’s name and appoints the Council Office to coordinate the development of the territory’s institutions.

The King, the Queen, and the immediate royal family welcomed the new citizens to the Kingdom. The royal family had previously enjoyed a close friendship with Afula’s northern neighbors prior to the property’s recent sale, and there had been fears of a change in the dynamics of the Floren Pond basin and a deterioration of relations. In fact, the change in ownership spawned one the most significant developments in Florenia’s history.

The King and the government indicated forthcoming appointments to the Council of State from the population of the new dominion.
